Hosting the School Assembly

On Friday 24th August we hosted the school assembly with our buddy class Room 11. Our theme was Gumboots and Umbrellas. Room 11 did a dance and some girls from Room 14 did a dance with Japanese umbrellas - they looked really colourful and graceful. The Gumboot Grabber was sneaking around grabbing the gumboots!

The Olympics with Our Buddy Class

On Friday, our buddy class - Room 11 helped us with some Olympic activities..

We tried to name the pictograms showing some of the Olympic sports. Can you name all the sports?

Olympic Fever Hits Sunnybrae

Welcome to the Sunnybrae School Olympics Day.

The children took place in a variety of team sports.

All games were played in good spirit.

Gold medals were awarded to some special children for showing our school values of RICE- Respect, Independence, Co-operation  and Independence.

Colourful Light

We started term 3 studying about Light. We learned that sunlight looks white, but is really a mixture of colours. When sunlight shines through drops of water, it splits up and you can see all the different colours of a rainbow. Bradley found this experiment for us to try to prove it. Have a go at doing it at home.

You will need:
a shallow dish of water, a small mirror and a piece of paper.

 This is what you do:
1. Put the dish in front of a sunny window and put the small mirror into it so that the mirror faces the sun. Do not look into the mirror!
2. Hold the piece of paper above the dish and move the mirror so that the light reflected off the mirror shines onto the paper.
What colours do you see on the paper?
Does it look like a rainbow in the sky?

Memories from our syndicate production

Last term the juniors were all involved in a production called Jack and the Beanstalk. Each child had an important role either as an actor, narrator or a dancer. The children learned many things about The Arts in this worthwhile experience.
