How Do You Measure a Dinosaur?

Today we were motivated to make a dinosaur after we read a story. We watched as Rory and
Ye Eun from our buddy class helped Mrs Dixon, Mrs Moselen and Mr Fowles make grid lines in the junior school playground. The grid was 15 metres long and 15 metres wide. On the sides of the grid there were letters and at the bottom there were numbers.

The adults drew the outline of the dinosaur.

We had fun colouring in our dinosaur with chalk.

Can you guess what sort of dinosaur it was?
It was fierce, it walked on 2 legs, had very sharp claws, it was a carnivore and it starts with the letter 'T'

It was a Tyrannosaurus Rex!
The mouth was so huge...Eden could even fit in the mouth!

We loved our fun maths activity!

Thank you Mrs Dixon, Mrs Moselen, Mr Fowles, Rory and Ye Eun for helping us!

Key Words to Describe Our Dinosaurs

Today we explored using 'Wordle'. We wrote some key words to describe a dinosaur we were interested in. We explored using different fonts, colours and layouts. Then chose the one that we liked!

How Big is a Dinosaur?

We found out some interesting things about the Apatosaurus.

We were really fascinated about the size because it was one of the largest land animals.

We learned that the tail was about 15 metres long. We measured how long this was..

and...

the Apatosaurus was between 21 and 27 metres long. We stretched out our arms and used a measuring tape to help us measure it....

It was huge!
