Week 8 Term 1

This week we practised taking photos using our digital camera. We were learning how to focus our photos before we pushed the shutter button. We have heard a rumour that some ALIENS have invaded the Magnum Mac Computer Store! They have requested the services of the ROOM 14 ALIEN BUSTERS to find them!!! We thought about how we might react if we met a cheeky alien……we might want to hide from it, hug it, play with it, kiss it.... OR RUN AWAY!!! Look at the photos that the children took of each other.

On Tuesday, we had a special visitor come and talk to our class about her job as an Air Stewart for Air New Zealand. We asked her some questions and learnt many interesting things about her job..like there are bunks at the back of the plane in the tail section where an an Air Stewart can have a sleep on a long haul!

Last week we had a cultural week at our school to help celebrate the 23 different cultures in our school. On Tuesday afternoon the juniors were involved in a variety of different activities learning about art and dress from other cultures

Using KidPix to Draw Mrs Stewart

Mrs Stewart came to talk to our class about her important job as our School Principal. We drew pictures of her in KidPix and learned how to use the textbox tool to label some parts of our pictures.

Our Writing About Mr Barnes

We wrote stories about Mr Barnes and the work that he does at our school. We used the digital camera to take photos. Some children drew pictures of him using Kid Pix. We learned how to use the text box and how to label some parts of our pictures. Click on our stories to enlarge and read them.

We have been interviewing people in our school community and finding out more about their jobs. We talked to our school Property Officer Mr Barnes, he shared many interesting things about this job. He took us on a tour and showed us soom interesting tools in his shed and told us some of the things that he did.
