Term 2 week 5

This week Sally from Water Care visited us and talked to us about the importance of water conservation. We learnt that what ever goes down the storm water drains will eventually go out to sea. If we let some things like rubbish, food, oils and chemicals go down, we will pollute the water and kill plants and animals that live in the water.
She told us how we got clean water in our homes and where the dirty water all goes. She drew a diagram to show this. Click on the diagram to enlarge it.

We did an exciting experiment using rocks and plastic to make mountains and valleys. Sally showed us what happened when it rained.

Another experiment was to see whether narrow rivers flowed faster than wide rivers. We worked in groups and shared our ideas…the narrow river was faster.
