Last Friday we had a red and black day to help schools affected by the earthquake in Christchurch. Our school raised over $1000 dollars! We felt proud because we were doing something to help.
On Friday Stephanie brought in a minibeast, it was a Katydid which is a New Zealand bush cricket. We learnt that they have an ear hole in the front legs and that their long antennae help them to 'see' where they are going in the dark. They are green and very well camouflaged when they are on trees.
We recently read a story called The Meanies Came to School. They were naughty, weren't showing respect and made a mess in the classroom. The story was used as a motivation for our art activity where we used a variety of collage materials to make our own Meanie masks.
We have been learning to draw pictures of ourselves using a programme called Kid Pix. It has been tricky learning to draw on the computer using a mouse!
