Stephanie's Minibeast

On Friday Stephanie brought in a minibeast, it was a Katydid which is a New Zealand bush cricket. We learnt that they have an ear hole in the front legs and that their long antennae help them to 'see' where they are going in the dark. They are green and very well camouflaged when they are on trees.

  1. what a fancy name - katydid for a bush cricket.
the cricket is very well camouflaged, I had to look very carefully to find it sitting on the lettuce leaves!!
